Overview

The Automotive Transformation Scheme supports the Australian automotive industry by encouraging competitive investment, innovation and economic sustainability through financial assistance. It provides cash payments covering up to 15% of the cost of eligible plant and equipment and 50% of eligible research and development investments for motor vehicle producers, component producers, machine tool and tooling producers, and service providers.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be Australian motor vehicle producers (producing at least 30,000 vehicles or engines annually), automotive component producers (with at least $500,000 annual production value), automotive machine tool and tooling producers (with at least $500,000 annual production value for original equipment), or automotive service providers (with at least $500,000 annual production value for vehicle or original equipment production services).

DRIVEN Charger Rebate Stream

Through the DRIVEN Program, the Australian Government will provide $60 million to fund the purchase and installation of EV charging units at automotive dealerships and EV repairers across Australia. The program will run over 4 years from 2024-25 to 2027-28. The program was announced as part of the Driving the Nation Fund.
