Overview

This grant funds projects that improve the quality of the local environment by supporting community and environment groups undertaking eligible natural resource management activities. Projects must protect and conserve Australia's water, plants, animals and ecosystems while working in partnership with local communities. Funding covers up to 100% of eligible project costs for activities such as weed treatment, pest management, fencing, revegetation, and education initiatives.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be a legal entity with an ABN, 18 years or older if applying as an individual, and not a government agency, peak body, umbrella body, or one of the 56 regional natural resource management organisations. Projects must have at least $5,000 in eligible expenditure and include activities directly related to natural resource management such as weed treatment, pest management, fencing, erosion management, or revegetation.

CEWH Environmental Activities

Under the Water Act 2007 (Cth) the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder (CEWH) can sell annual water allocations (temporary water). The proceeds of these sales can be used to fund environmental activities, which must be consistent with the CEWH Environmental Activities Framework (CEAF). This grant opportunity enables the CEWH to provide funding for environmental activities that help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of environmental water delivery in the Murray-Darling Basin.
