Overview

The CIM program helps reduce importing costs for Australian manufacturers of eligible goods by providing import duty concessions. Manufacturers who import chemical, plastics, paper goods, or metal materials used in food packaging can apply for duty-free import status if they can demonstrate their imported good has a performance advantage over locally-sourced alternatives.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be manufacturers intending to import eligible goods (chemical, plastics, paper goods, or metal materials for food packaging) and must demonstrate through independent technical assessment that the imported good performs substantially better than locally-sourced alternatives. Applications must be submitted before importing the goods.
