Overview

The Disaster Recovery Allowance provides a short-term payment to individuals whose income has been directly impacted by a declared major or widespread disaster. The allowance is paid for a maximum of 13 weeks and is available to eligible employees, sole traders, and primary producers affected by natural or man-made disasters.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be at least 16 years old, an Australian citizen or eligible visa holder living in Australia, live in or earn income in a disaster-affected area, have experienced direct income loss from the declared disaster, and earn less than average weekly income in the weeks following the loss.
