Economic Development Grants in Tasmania — 2026

The $60 million Business Growth Loan Scheme provides loans to assist eligible Tasmanian businesses to develop, expand or undertake new projects that promote growth in the Tasmanian economy and align with the Tasmanian Government's strategic objectives.

An Australian Government initiative that helps employers grow and diversify their workforce by supporting them to hire jobseekers who have been engaged with employment services for over two years. Eligible employers can access up to $15,000 in financial incentives, delivered through a wage subsidy (up to $10,000 over six months) and a secure-work payment (up to $5,000 after one year of permanent employment).

Financial incentives for businesses to hire new staff. Businesses may be eligible for wage subsidies of up to $10,000 when hiring eligible individuals into ongoing positions. The subsidies are available through approved employment services providers including Workforce Australia, Transition to Work, Parent Pathways, and Inclusive Employment Australia.

The No Interest Loan Scheme helps low-income Tasmanians get affordable loans to start a new business or help grow an existing business. NILS loans are not subject to any credit checks, and have no fees, charges or interest. Eligible businesses can apply for loans of up to $3,000 to help with start-up costs, insurance, registration costs, or equipment purchases.
